About

A new snow season is getting ready to start and we have BIG news out of Wachusett Mountain. We are developing the FIRST slopestyle training program in the Boston, Cape Cod and Rhode Island area! Please join us at Wachusetts for three different level of training. I will be running the program so if you have any questions, message me or call me at the Wachusett Mountain ski school.

1.Park Pals
Do you have a kid that loves the idea of the park but you want to have trained properly so they minimize the risk of getting hurt? This program is for 6-9 year old skiers and snowboarders that want to jump, slide, spin and shred! This program focuses on solid skill training in the basics but also on beginning park features. At Wachusett we have three parks including one made primarily of snow features, which is IDEAL for the little guys to get their confidence up. We also have small slopestyle features like flat boxes, short low rails and little jumps that are just right for kids gearing up for a life of fun in the park!

2. Park Masters
This group of 10-15 year olds get to have a blast in our beginning and intermediate parks while learning the solid ski and ride skills that it takes to be a top notch park rat! This group is split by ability so that beginners can work at their pace while those with some experience get the coaching they need to get to the next level. Whether they think they might want to compete someday or just rock the ride for fun, this level will be just right to get them on those bigger boxes and rails along with learning safer bigger jump techniques.

3. Park Monsters
This top level group is for those kids age 13-15 that want to gain the skills to join a competition team. These kids will have had at least 2 years of park experience and have the drive to compete once their skills are up to level. This level is taught by a USASA certified coach (me) who knows what the competition teams require and what judges look for during competition. Here the kids will work on form and style while hitting more complex boxes and rails. They will also start to jump big and work on aerial tricks. At the end of the season the kids will try out for the Wachusett competition team for the following year.

I am a professional educator who teaches skiing, snowboarding, science and law. I have skied my entire life and took up snowboarding a few years back. I still do both sports regularly. In addition to teaching freestyle skiing I grew up skiing the west and can prepare you to ski powder and steeps. I teach at Wachusett Mountain because it is close to home and because the folks there are like family.

Come ski or ride with me! Just ask for Heather Duffy at the ski school desk. See you there!
