I began my snowboarding career as a freshman in High School because I wanted to be a part of its unique culture. The first lesson I took was not a good experience; the instructor was distracted and frustrated with my lack of success. My second lesson a year later was amazing; I learned how to link toe side and heel side turns and safely use a chairlift. Ten years after that lesson, now fully defining myself as a snowboarder, the memory of that second lesson motivated me to share my passion for snowboarding by pursuing a career as an instructor.
