About

Stephen McDonald has been pushing his personal physical limits since birth. As a child he enjoyed many sports including snow skiing, BMX, diving, water skiing, and motocross. Although skiing has been his main life passion. He raced in the USSA far west division for ten years, spent most of his free time skiing, and later became a race coach. While coaching for the China Peak Race Team in 2005 he took up Telemark skiing. He is now challenging the limits of what can be done on freeheel skis and promoting telemark skiing as an instructor and guide. Most of his winter is spent freeskiing at his home mountain China Peak and chasing steep new descents in the surrounding backcountry. He often travels in search of deep powder snow, big lines to ski, and great people to share it with. He began competing in big mountain competitions in 2009. He is a PSIA level three Certified Telemark instructor and joined the PSIA-W Telemark Demo/Tech Team in 2011. He is available for lessons by reservation at China Peak Mountain resort. He resides in Shaver Lake, CA and when not skiing works as a contractor building homes in the Shaver area.
