About

Hey guys, so this will be my first time as a ski and snowboard instructor at China Peak. However, it will be my third teaching position and I have been boarding for over ten years. I just graduated from San Diego State University last year with a degree in Environmental Engineering. During my time at state I became very involved with martial arts, specifically Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After several years of training, my Sensei, John Ramos, and I created a Women's Self-Defense program due to the unfortunate rise in assault cases around the community. The program was a huge success and we were often thanked later by women who found the information and experience useful. I would say that I enjoyed giving instruction and demonstrations that I thought could help them survive should something happen, and it was very fulfilling to hear all of the positive feedback from women who completed the program. So those are some of my teaching credentials and now I'll tell you a little bit more about myself. I enjoy outdoor recreational activities from fishing, hiking, and camping, to snowmobiling. I have also competed in sports ranging from water polo to polevaulting. I started skiing when I was seven years old and switched to snowboarding when I was 12 because I felt it offered a greater freedom of movement. My favorite things to do on a ride are carving through powder, taking jumps, and going really fast. I refer to myself as an 'exercise enthusist' but my friends would probably say 'gym rat' was more appropriate, since some of them feel like I live there. I am usually quick with a joke, though I can make no promises of avoiding 'dad jokes' cause some of those are the best. Other than that I am pretty easy to get along with and I look forward to working with you. Happy Holidays.
