I teach skiing to Autistic individuals through our regular ski school. I work as a behaviorist in special education as a second career. Twelve years ago I taught an Autistic individual how to ski and it changed my world. Skiing is a very social sport and what better way to teach someone with autism social skills and also learn how to ski. Chairlift rides become very useful teaching tools for 8 or so minutes. The interactions between a complete stranger and an autistic individual for the first time is something to behold. Yes it takes time so does learning how to ski it does not happen over night.
