About

I teach skiing to children and adults.  I started skiing in Oregon and Washington 46 years ago as a child and love sharing the mountain experience with students.  I specialize in building skills and confidence in my students and equipping them to reach their ski goals in a fun and safe environment.

My first teaching experience was in high school at Snoqualmie Pass.  I taught skiing at Summit West near Seattle for Fiorini Ski School and Cascade Ski School from 2004-2015.  This season will be my fourth season teaching for Tamarack.

I hold the highest level of speciality credentials for both Children and Senior skiers in addition to Level II Alpine certification through PSIA.  I am involved with training new instructors at Tamarack and am passionate about all things skiing.

I am a Seattle transplant and moved to McCall in 2015 to ski and enjoy the sun and no traffic and no lift lines.  Tamarack is the right place for all those things! 

In the off season, I work for a river rafting company, enjoy biking, Pilates, golf and hiking.

Advanced - 5 Hour Private Kids Ski Package

Both of my children (beginner age 5 1/2 and advanced age 9) took lessons from Deann and they both loved her. She was kind, patient, and skilled. We will definitely request her again.

Pro - Another Program

Deann is an amazing instructor! I have observed her take a person who has never been on skis to feeling confident and linking turns in less than an hour. I am a 1st year instructor here at Tamarack and with Deann's mentoring and invaluable input I passed my Level 1 certification. I highly suggest Deann as a ski instructor for beginner as well as advanced skiers. She can help take your skiing to the next level!

Beginner - 2 Hour Morning Adult First Timer Ski Private Package

My daughter was very scared to ski for the first time, by the time the lesson ended she loved skiing! She is now doing weekly lessons with Deann. I cannot say enough about Deann, she is patient, kind, and super fun!

Intermediate - 2 Hour Adult All Mountain Morning Private Ski Package

I have been skiing a couple of years. Deann was able to work with me on my technique. She was thorough, patient, and very helpful. I will practice a few time what she taught me and will then work with her again. Thanks Deann.

Beginner - 2 Hour Kids Private Ski Package

Excellent experience !!! She is excellent with kids, patient, and she look for exhales and ways to explain kids so they can feel and understand the technique I really kind the way she tought my doughters

Intermediate - Kids Group Package Ski

My 9 and 11 year old had the opportunity to take several lessons from Deann. They had the ski basics down, but Deann was able to help them improve their technique and performance.They both loved her lessons and both improved, showing she is wonderful at differentiated instruction! My son loves to be pushed hard, have verbal explanations regarding the science behind everything, and ski aggressively. My daughter is much more laid back, wanting to have fun with her friends and get from point A to point B. Within the same lesson environment, Deann was able to meet both of these desires. They are both excited to take lessons from her again this year!
